PPC Consultant
Expert AdWords and Bing Consultancy Services
Looking for a PPC Consultant? You’ve come to the right place. I’ve been managing campaigns for more than a decade, and as well as managing smaller campaigns on a freelance basis run an agency that is one of the first in the UK to be Premier Google Partners. I can help with everything from campaign management to business analysis, keyword research, analytics, conversion tracking and reporting.
When it comes to PPC, businesses tend to fall into two camps: those that see the value paid search can offer as a marketing channel, and those that ignore it because of either a misconception or bad experience. Either way, I believe that modern day digital marketing you just can’t get away without at least considering the value that Adwords or Bing AdCenter can offer.
Yes, there are a few things to consider, and yes there is a risk that your spend won’t generate the return you’re looking for but with a proper strategy and well optimised account it’s actually very easy to mitigate against potential issues. I know your first thought will be something along the lines of “You’re a freelance PPC consultant, offering PPC services so you’re completely bias” and to a point you’re absolutely correct, but the truth is that over the last decade or so I’ve worked on PPC campaigns of various shapes and sizes, adding up to millions of pounds in spend, and seen the value that they bring to a business.
Which is why you’re here.
Who do you work with and what are your costs?
Whether you’re a listed company with a whole marketing department or a one man band I’d be happy to discuss your requirements. My fees depend on the project but I don’t tend to work on the “percentage of spend” model – I feel it’s fairer for everyone to work out costs based on how complex your PPC account is.
What’s your process and why should I work with you?
If you’re already running paid search I’ll generally start with a very quick 20 minute audit of your account, followed by an initial chat. If you’re new paid search we’ll go straight into a phone call. Either way the focus is on working out how best to generate traffic that meets your goals. At this point we’ll also discuss budgets, conversions, and more buzzwords than you can shake a stick at (CPC, CTA, CPA, Extensions, Dimensions to name just a few). I pride myself on being able to break down some quite complex topics and make them easy to understand, so if you’re new to all of this don’t worry. That being said if you know what you’re doing and happy to go deep then I’m good with that too.
Once that initial discussion is out of the way I’ll go away and put together a proposal for you. This won’t just be a load of boilerplate text about the theory of managing an Adwords account – it will include a specific list of what I’ll be doing if you hire me as your PPC consultant.
From there, assuming you’re happy, I’ll get going with the hard work.
This tends to start with an account build / rebuild which includes researching your industry, performing some competitor analysis, and carrying out keyword research (I’ve built some of my own software that helps with this but also use the likes of SEMRush, SearchMetrics and Google’s Keyword Planner). Once that’s done I’ll create a proposed structure of your account and run you through everything.
At that point there tends to be some back and forth before moving into the process of building everything out. I’ll create your campaigns, set up any targeting, build the ad groups, add in keywords, and write your ad copy. I tend to build things in a way that is easy to understand for everyone involved, with a logical ad group hierarchy and different match types separated into their own ad groups.
Wait. What? Match types. Ad Groups?
We can talk about this in more detail, but the approach I take is to structure an Adwords campaign on three levels:
– Campaign (this is where we assign budget to different types of services or keyword groupings)
– Ad Groups (these sit within campaigns and split out different types of keywords)
For each Ad Group I’ll usually create two or three versions that only contain Exact Match, Phrase Match, or Modified Broad Match keywords. This gives more control over your bids and allows for a much more strategic and controlled approach to optimising the campaign as a whole.
